Pride

Ambassador.

The Role

All our Volunteers are Ambassadors for Pride. Across the festival weekend you are the face of the festival, our eyes and ears on the ground helping festival goers, stallholders, guests and other volunteers and helping deliver a successful event.

What’s Involved

The Duties & Tasks

Throughout the coming year we will get to know you at the induction, your involvement in Pride Life activities and your attendance at training sessions and this alongside your skills and experience helps us when we allocate volunteer shifts for the weekend, the list below shows some of the tasks that we need volunteers for but there might be others too. If you think you have the skills or experience for a specific task then let us know and we will happily consider you for it.

  • Event Stewarding, All Pride Ambassadors will act as event stewards for the event helping our visitors and guests by providing information on the event or the location of the toilets, the stage, the bar etc
  • Box Office A busy environment focusing on customer service and cash handling, you will be responsible for selling wristbands over the Pride Weekend
  • Accreditation – Helping exchanging wristbands from people who have already bought tickets alongside issuing passes to invited guests, site crew and staff.
  • Expo Assistants – Helping our community expo stall holders setup and directing them to their stall
  • Site Build and De-rig Crew – Helping with getting the Pride Festival site built up this can including helping with putting up fencing to attaching banners or signage around the site.
  • Artist Liaison and Stage Support – Supporting the Stage manager in ensuring the main stage runs smoothly all weekend, you will be responsible for looking after our acts, setting up dressing rooms and handling artist accreditation.
  • Fundraisers – Shake those charity buckets and help us raise money for the Pride Fund throughout the Pride Weekend.
  • Merchandise Crew – This year we will be having official Pride Merchandise to sell during the weekend.

There will be other roles too as the festival develops this year and we’re keen to hear from all volunteers about any additional ways they feel they can help us either in the run up to or during the festival

What Our Volunteers Say about their Roles!

Lori

Artist Liaison

This was the first time I have volunteered with Pride and it's safe to say it was one of the best weekends I have ever been a part of . I was helping out as an artist liaison backstage, making sure the artists were comfortable and on schedule. The team was amazing to work with and the whole weekend was an amazing experience . Here's to the next !!!

Engage Team

Last year was my first time volunteering at Pride Glasgow after attending the year before as an attendee. I chose the Engage Team which involves talking to lots of different people over the weekend to attain feedback. I spoke to over 100 people over the 2 days and found it incredibly fun, rewarding and informative. My team leader was incredibly helpful and friendly, offering our team all the support we needed. It is one of the best things I have done and a great thing to be a part of all year round. I would advise anyone interested in volunteering to go for it as they will love it and not look back. Pride Life is not 2 days a year, it’s 365 with a loving, caring and supportive group that everyone is welcomed into.

Steward Response

Hi, my names John, I'm a Steward Response Volunteer for Pride Glasgow. During the Pride weekend I helped with the stewarding of the parade, going to various call outs that came over the radio as well as being there to support the other volunteers and the public whenever they needed it. It was one of the best experiences of my life, not only do you get to immerse yourself in the pride weekend, there's also lots of activities throughout the year with the Pride Life programme to get involved with. You'll meet new people, find new friends for life and you're guaranteed to enjoy every second of the time you give. I can't wait for Pride 2017 and I can't wait to see all the volunteers old and new!
